Camera Gear
There are a lot of things on my check list, this is what I bring to every wedding or portrait session. Let’s get started!
Camera Bodies
My favorite cameras to use are my (2) Canon 5d Mark iii‘s and my back up Canon 5d Mark ii. These are incredible cameras, they produce stunning quality images and they are always reliable.
Lenses
There are several lenses I bring to my weddings and portrait sessions that allow me to get specific shots I need. Each lens serves a great purpose and during different times of a wedding day!

1. 60mm Canon Macro Lens
The macro lens is great for ring shots and any small details that I really want to focus in on.
2. Sigma 50 Art Series Lens
I don’t go anywhere without my 50mm lenses! I use this lens a lot for portraits and detail shots. The low aperture allows me to get great depth of field and low light situations. It is my go to lens!
3. Canon 50 mm Lens
Like I said, we love our 50’s! I got two of them so my assistant can use it as well.
4. 24-105mm Canon L Series Lens
This lens is a great lens to get if you’re getting a 5d Mark ii for the first time. It’s very versatile in photographing wide and close-up portraits. I use this lens mainly during Formal Family Portraits. It allows me to get a wide shot without the distortion and zoom-in for the close ups.
5. 16-35mm Wide Canon L Series Lens
This wide lens can create some pretty epic landscape portraits. It adds a whole new perspective and variety to my portraits. I always get some epic wide shots that captivate the landscape and environment we’re in.
6. 70-200mm Zoom Canon L Series Lens
Okay, I call this lens the big daddy lens because it’s the biggest lens in my bag. I use this lens mainly during the Ceremony. It allows me to zoom in and get intimate close up shots during the Ceremony without getting in the way. It’s a must-have lens for me during weddings. You can capture stunning portraits with this lens with amazing depth of field too, you just have to get back far enough!
Camera Accessories

1. Canon 580 EX ii Strobes
I use these 580 EX ii strobes during low light situations during wedding receptions + back ups and a ton of AA batteries (I get a big pack of AA’s at Costco).
2. Canon Batteries
Having extra batteries is always a must! So you don’t have to worry about re-charging.
3. SanDisk Extreme Pro CF Cards
I only use SanDisk Extreme Pro CF Cards because they are the most reliable, high quality, fast memory cards. I also have two special memory card wallets that hold up to 10 cards each. This way my images are secure in a safe place while shooting. At the end of the night I will put all the memory cards in my Card-Safe containers. My Card-Safe containers are water proof and shock proof!
Camera Bags
I have 2 large backpack camera bags. One is Lowepro and the other by Kata. I also have a smaller bag by Crumpler for casual days and on the go.
I hope this was helpful in learning more about what kind of gear we use for photography during a wedding or portrait session!
